About Us

The partner behind your platform

A small, hands-on team that designs, builds and maintains learning platforms for our clients, and rebrands them so each one feels entirely their own.

About Us

Tech Data Information Technology (previously known as Nomads IT Corp) has been in the IT and software industry for more than 20 years, delivering enterprise-grade technology to small and medium businesses at a fraction of corporate cost. Today we focus on designing, building and maintaining learning platforms, web platforms and apps for our clients, and rebranding each one with the client's own identity. Based in Cape Town, we back that work with hosting, managed IT, and training that helps teams adopt new tools and AI productively.

Our clients range from schools, colleges and higher-education institutions to NGOs in early childhood development, manufacturers, transport services and small businesses across the Western Cape. That work now spans education technology, from running the online learning platforms behind fully accredited distance-learning institutions to building practical AI, such as automated document and receipt scanning, into the systems our clients use every day.

How We Work

Fewer surprises, more working software

Most of the technology problems we are called in to fix are not really technology problems. They are the result of a system nobody explained, a handover that never happened, or a supplier who disappeared once the invoice was paid. The way we work is built to avoid all three.

We start by listening, not quoting

Before we propose anything we want to understand what the organisation actually does, who depends on the system, and what "working properly" looks like to the people using it every day. A learning platform for an accredited college has different pressures to a manufacturer's office network, and the right answer for one would be an expensive mistake for the other. That conversation costs you nothing and it is where most of the value gets decided.

We scope it in plain language

You get a written scope that says what will be delivered, roughly when, and what it will cost, in language you can hand to a board or a governing body without translation. Where something genuinely cannot be pinned down in advance we say so and explain what it depends on, rather than burying it in a technical assumption you are expected to have understood.

We build in stages you can see

Work is delivered in pieces you can look at and react to, not as one long silence ending in a launch day. That means problems surface while they are still cheap to change, and the people who will use the system get a say in how it behaves before it is set in stone. It also means you always know what has been done and what has not.

We stay after go-live

Handover is not the end of the relationship. Nearly all of our client work is systems we built and still maintain, which is a deliberate choice: it keeps us honest, because we are the ones who have to live with any shortcut we take. If a platform we run has a bad week, it is our phone that rings, and that is the arrangement we prefer.

Who We Work With

Education, non-profits and owner-run business

We are not a general-purpose IT shop that will take any job. Over twenty years the work has settled into a few sectors we understand well enough to be useful in from the first meeting.

Education & training providers

Schools, colleges and accredited distance-learning institutions. We run the online learning platforms behind real qualifications, which means understanding intakes, cohorts, assessment cycles and the reporting an accreditation body will ask for, not just how to install software.

NGOs & early childhood development

Organisations doing significant work on constrained budgets, often with funders who need to see outcomes evidenced. Systems here have to be affordable to run for years, simple enough for a rotating team to use, and able to produce a credible report at the end of a grant cycle.

Small & medium business

Manufacturers, transport services, professional practices and owner-run firms across the Western Cape. Usually there is no internal IT person, so the technology has to be genuinely low-maintenance and someone has to be reachable when it is not. That someone is us.

Cape Town

Local enough to show up, set up to work remotely

We are based in Cape Town and most of our clients are in the Western Cape, close enough that when something needs hands on it, someone can be there. Cabling, server installs, network faults and photo days are not jobs you can do down a phone line, and we do not pretend otherwise.

Everything else, platform development, hosting, maintenance, monitoring and day-to-day support, we handle remotely, which is what makes it practical to look after a client anywhere in the country. Our free remote diagnostic works the same way: we connect to the machine, find out what is actually wrong, and tell you what it will take to fix. No callout fee to get an honest answer.
